Title: Lignocellulosic biomass to biofuels and biochemicals: Microbial innovations for a sustainable future
Abstract:
This talk highlights innovative strategies for utilizing microbial systems to produce biofuels, biochemicals, and high-value biomolecules from lignocellulosic biomass and other renewable resources. Key focus areas include microbial fermentation, bioreactor design, enzymatic and biochemical pretreatment of biomass, and microbial production of value-added compounds such as natural pigments, melanin, resveratrol, hyaluronic acid, and vanillin. Special emphasis will be given to biorefinery concepts and technology transfer, including bioethanol production using modified yeast and antibiotic production through sustainable biomanagement of mycelial waste. These advancements demonstrate the critical role of microbial biotechnology in developing eco-friendly and economically viable alternatives for the bioeconomy.
